Another Baby Shower!
June 22, 2009

April showers bring….June showers? It sure seems like I have been going to, planning and anticpating a lot of showers these days, and that is fine with me  – it just means there is a lot to celebrate!

This weekend after my own bridal shower,  Dan and I joined our friends Nicole and Matt  for their baby shower.  Nicole and Matt will become parents, oh….about any time now to Baby Cambelle Jade. When the shower invite came annoucing the party would be at Ram’s Head Tavern I thought, “A baby shower in a bar?” but after attending, Dan and I have decided we want our baby shower to be at Ram’s Head…I mean, if it’s even still open YEARS from now!  Nicole and Matt’s neighbors reserved a private room that was so pretty – the food was yummy and all the cute details their hosts added made it feel really special.  It was a perfect co-ed celebration for one special Baby Girl!

One SWEET Baby Shower
June 22, 2009

SHOWERS 016

Before Carrie showered me with bridal gifts I got the honor of showering her as she counts down the days ’til mommyhood!!! I co-hosted a  SWEET themed baby shower for my super cute prego friend, who has had quite the sugar craving as she awaits  the arrival of Miss Carragan.  It won’t be long, and this Baby Joy will arrive well equipt to stroll, sleep, eat, bathe and, of course, dress in the same sassy fashion as her mama!

Carragan's favorite colors are pink and green - like her mom and Aunt Mary!

Showered With Love!
June 21, 2009

I had THE MOST fun at my very first bridal shower this Saturday. My bridesmaids, Carrie and Shannon, hosted and nearly all of my best DC friends came with such fun gifts!!! It was really all I could have hoped for and more – the girls had napkins printed with my monogram, decorated Carrie’s sassy condo in the colors of the wedding and created the most personal video montage and gift bag favors. And the food……SO yummy!!! Here are some highlights:

Black Ankle Winery
May 4, 2009

Nope, it’s not named for my  right foot, still in a brace after my clumsy fall….but Black Ankle Vineyards is a charming, eco-friendy winery hidden in Fredrick County, MD.  The drive on a rough, windy backroad is SO worth it when, once inside,  a rustic tasting room reveals  natural, creative architechture and design, along with unique, award-winning  wines .

Hand-made tables in the tasting room

Black Ankle bottles dry and bold wines,  not the typical sweet labels found at most Maryland wineries.  They offer tasty chocolates flights and cheese trays,  but you can take your own snackage if you dine outside,  or in the back courtyard in a rocking chair.

Kim & Ben

The building that houses the tasting rooms, and nearly everything inside, is made from resources found on the land where the grapes are grown.  The insulation?? Hay!! Check out the website for the interesting story on the winery, and all of its fun events!

The boys, especially Ben, were fascinated with the natural gutter system. I can’t begin to explain how it works, but it has something to do with a chain and a big barrell.

More exciting than sipping wine OR sippy cups!

I have a feeling this won’t be the only visit I make to Black Ankle. The staff is so friendly and I especially loved the white wine selections! The relaxing Maryland countryside on which it sits makes it a really unqiue place to waste a day….which is just what we did!!

Cheers!

Date Night!
April 20, 2009

It was good times, as always, dining this weekend with the Larricks. We talked and laughted ’til we were black and blue – just like our perfectly cooridnated outfits.  That was Dan and Dave’s idea, of course.*

Dress code: boys in shades of blue, girls in black

* I kid!

Miley & Me

Hannah Bling lipgloss rings!

Hannah Bling lipgloss rings!

My friend Jenni has always hoped her destiny would be fame. She never dreamed it would come as a Miley clone. Countless times she has been asked, “Has anyone ever told you that you look like Miley Cyrus?”.  I never saw it, ’til we were face to face-ish with Hannah Montanna on opening night of the movie (yes, we really did pay to see it, and it was adorable). So if Jenni is Miley/Hannah…I guess that makes me Lilly/Lola?

Happy Birthday, Cassie!
April 15, 2009

I am, as always, belated in getting an official greeting or gift in the mail, so today I celebrate Cassie – my BFF, my MOH – because :

1/ I am so glad she was born and 2/ I am so glad she’s as old as me now! CAR. LIT. Heart. Ye.

Theme for Thursday – MyBirthday
April 2, 2009

Theme: Make-Over/ Mall Party            Event:  Birthday

Gift bags filled with pink candies and champagne!

Gift bags filled with pink candies and champagne!

Maybe it was last week’s 80’s theme that sent me back into the parties of my youth, but when it came time to celebrate my 32nd year, a few key elements played into the tone that was set for celebrating:

1/I wanted the day to be relaxing and girly!

2/ I had not purchased make-up that didn’t come from Target since 2008, aka The Lay Off, and if you’ve seen photos of me lately, you can tell…

3/Because of #2, (and 32!) I’m noticing bags under my eyes that are so deep and blue I almost went with a outerspace theme in honor of my face craters.  To make this party purposeful, I set out with finding the duck tape version of concealer!

4/ Knowing of my budget restraints when it comes to cosmetics, my loving, giving fabulous BFF Cassie gifted me with a very generous gift card …so inspite of joblessness, I had some operating capital!

Anne in the hot seat!

I sent a iomoi invite to my sassiest girls and scheuled make-overs for each of us at various Macy’s counters. I thanked my friends for sacrificing a Saturday in honor of my vanity and birth by creating swag bags. Afterall, every shopper needs sugar!! Once we were all dressed up, we needed a place to go…so off we went to toast our new looks and our fun, girly day over lunch!

My only regret from this fun party? We didn’t take a group picture!!!!!

Thank you Anne, Jocelyn, Mary, Carrie, Tiffany (and Cassie, too!)  for making my 32nd birthday feel like my 13th  – I heart you all!
