Friday Find!
April 3, 2009

For those of you who, like me, may struggle with decorating your walls, perhaps we should take a tip from Do It Yourself magazine and steal this idea – ceiling medallions as wall art! Though one day it’d be nice to have original and expensive paintings hanging on the walls I hired someone else to paint, for now…that is not an option.  Even if it was, I still think this looks unique, creative and really great!

Lucketts Design House
April 1, 2009

Hold on to your unemployment checks because the folks at Lucketts Store are having a showcase weekend in their Designs House. I know I toss around the word fabulous a lot, but the Design House is FAB.U.LOUS. I mean it.  Everything about it. If I could choose any structure, anywhere, to call my home, it’d be this house – even without its fabulous furnishings (I might paint the front porch, but still, I LOVE IT).  I love the architecture of this house (and the fact that they hand you wine when you walk in the door to sip while you shop isn’t bad either…)is incredible; the amazing accessories and furniture it’s stocked with makes it even more intoxicating.  I am serious when I say I dream about living here.  I have.

Look for me there on Sunday, resisting the urge to buy.

Behind the Pearly Gates
December 16, 2008

UT basketball coach Bruce Pearl  and I have some things in common when it comes to home decor: we both love round dining room tables, free standing bath tubs and are heavy into neutral colors.  Unlike me, Bruce lives in a 16 room estate, and that’s where the common threads of our homes start to to fray.  Check out Bruce in his home court in this article, courtesy of Vol Fan Chris Bradley.

Christmas at the White House
December 16, 2008

You know how the saying goes…Never refuse an invitation to the White House!  I’m pretty sure the etiquette folks were talking about the formal, engraved and calligraphied ones. Still, when Jenni B. offered to take me as her guest for a walk-through tour to see this year’s decorations, I was quick to say yes.  I’ve been several times in the last few years, but this year’s Red, White & Blue Christmas  theme is by far the pretttiest. Here are just a few shots:

The stairs leading to The Residence are my favorite place in the White House, I always think about all the people who've gone up and down them through the years, and wonder what it looks like beyond the rope...

I took some pictures of the White House china, and will share that in a later post!
